WELCOME TO THE WORLD
 OF RHYMING POETRY

WATERFALLING WISHES

Like sequined strands of shimmered cashmere shawl
         Cascading drops of silvered waterfall
Cast rippling waves that wind through crystal stream
To spread like wistful wishes in a dream.

                                                           Bad Bad News

I haven't added family news before, but this needs to be included. Saturday, April 12,
my younger sister, Marilyn, was hit by a 16 yr old red light runner going 70 mph
in Rapid City, SD. She has a broken right shoulder, broken left ankle, and may need
collar bone surgery as well. She is at the Nursing Home where Mother used to be.

Early Monday morning, Mary Elleene McFarland, our Mother passed away. She would
have been 100 years old on August 15. She was an exceptional lady, friendly, warm-
hearted, thoughtful and helpful. She loved to sing, and to whistle, too. Calm, never
ruffled, she met life as it came, and helped to make it better with her strong faith
and her encouraging--and her teasing. We were so lucky to have her as long as we
did, but oooh it hurts. Just wanted you to know. We'll have a special Memorial
Service July 19, the day before the Black Hills Pioneers Celebration.

As you can tell, I'm having loads of problems with this website, but simply don't have
the energy, (Claude and I have both been down with bad colds), or the spirit to fight
with it any more right now.

Singing Songs of Inspiration

To Fan Creative Flame
PAGE 17

God-given talent is a special gift
that fills our lives with treasure, gives a lift
to those who search for beauty's awesome show,
and hearts that wander, lonely and adrift.
When inspiration strikes, the artists know
that someone found their dream. They help it grow,
then smile with pride while artisans create
and work develops masterpieces's glow.

Kind words encourage, urge, and motivate
the flame of genius, but cruel words weight
can smother craftsman's creativity
as dreams descend to dark deserted fate.

Lord, what a barren place this world would be
without the beauty found in artistry,
and lines of truth revealed in poetry.

Welcome To My Heart

“Come in this house and have a cup of tea,
and tell me what you’re up to, how you’ve been!
I had a feeling you just might stop by—
So baked banana muffins—they’re still warm.”
“A china cup, lace napkin just for me?
I haven’t felt so welcomed since back when—
And roses in a crystal vase—oh, my!
I’ll have another muffin—there’s no harm.”

“I brought some snapshots of my family.”
We munch, catch up on news, tell jokes, and then
Exchange advice, share secrets, laugh and cry.
Time flies. You have to go. I twist your arm.

“You must stop by more often—oh, please do!
When we can’t visit, somehow I feel blue.
My door and heart stay open wide for you."
